// The Pre-Wedding Couple Shoot

The pre-wedding couple shoot, also known as an engagement shoot, is a relaxed way to get comfortable in front of the camera and create meaningful images before the day itself.

Despite the name, a pre-wedding shoot isn’t about recreating a proposal, it’s a photo session that takes place during your engagement era. A chance to slow things down, spend a little time together, and create images that feel like you, without timelines, guests, or expectations.

And the benefits are numerous.
Spending time together before the wedding allows you to get comfortable with how I work, how it feels to be photographed, and how little you actually need to “do”. For couples who feel even slightly nervous about being in front of the camera, this can be a game-changer.
By the time the wedding arrives, everything feels familiar. You know what to expect, I know how you move together, and the camera becomes something you barely notice.
It’s also a chance for us to connect in a more relaxed setting. No pressure, no schedule, just space to talk, walk, laugh, and let the love show.
That sense of familiarity carries through to the wedding day, allowing you to feel fully at ease and confident, knowing you’re in safe hands.
Pre-wedding shoots offer complete freedom when it comes to location. Maybe there’s a place that holds meaning for you, somewhere you spend time together, or a setting that contrasts beautifully with your wedding day. City streets, woodland paths, the coast, your own home; almost anything is possible.

It’s also a lovely opportunity to include the things that make your life feel like yours.
A walk with your dog, a favourite hobby, a quiet evening at home, or a place you return to again and again, these details add depth and personality to the images and often become some of the most treasured photographs.

Many couples use their pre-wedding images for save-the-dates, invitations, wedding websites, or guest books, but they’re just as meaningful simply as a record of this chapter of your lives, full of anticipation and romance.

Above all, a pre-wedding shoot is about creating space, to feel comfortable, connected, and excited for what’s to come.
If it sounds like something you’d enjoy, or you’d like to talk through ideas, I’m always happy to chat and help you decide whether it’s the right fit for you.
